It was a very peaceful yet a meaningful Saturday today. Few practicumers (just seven) were only present and some of the residents were given out-of-pass. In the morning, we had our body moved again as we do the aerobics with the residents. The dance steps were sort of not that easy to go after and most of us had a hard time to catch it up. Then in the afternoon we watched a Christmas- themed movie: The Polar Express. Actually, it was my first time that I have to watch a movie with the residents and I already watched this movie. Hehe”, but I did not become a spoiler. After so many years, I had watched the movie again and still loved it much as my first time. I will never forget the insights that the movie has thought me. “Seeing is believing but the real and great things here on earth are those things that can not be seen”. “The spirit of Christmas lies and depends in you.” “Learn, Depend on, Lead, and Believe.” My conclusion for this day: The meaning of Christmas is in our hands. For children, it has something to do with Santa Claus visiting the chimney of houses whenever people are asleep and leaving presents under the Christmas tree. For older ones, it has become the time of giving presents, attending the nine days of misa de gallo, spending the 13th month pay and Christmas bonuses in shopping as well as disseminating of aguinaldos to godchildren. As they say in psychology, we have our individual differences. For me, Christmas is like this, and for others it might be like that. What’s important is we will never forget that this season is about Him, it is about His birth, His time, the time that we will bring back those blessings that He had showered to us. Furthermore, sometimes we need not to see things in order for us to believe that it is real; sometimes we just need to hold on to our faith. Thank God for this day! Smiles.
