Happy New Year everyone! A new year means a new beginning hence; it’s the start of something new. It was good to see my friends again after their vacation for a week. Actually, I missed them a lot. Hehe”, I have also seen new faces of residents in LCRC. Ahhh new faces… In the morning, we joined the residents in their weekly aerobics but this time we just watched a video of physical fitness by Jackie Lou de Blanco. It was nice to see them used exercise mats and blankets in the floor with matching improvised dumbbells. We were not used to it because often we only use background music and were instructed by a UST practicumer who leads the routine. In the afternoon, again we joined the residents and by that time, we watched a movie. At first we tried the movie “Five People You Meet in Heaven” but as it goes on, the residents find the sounds of the movie very soft so they have chosen another film which is Matilda. I have watched this film when I was in grade school. It was good that I’ve seen it again for it was one of my favorite films. During the film showing, I remembered some of the scenes but I realized that it was more of a comedy and little of drama. Before, I really thought that it was more of a drama. I even cried and became emotional. Hehe”, maybe I was very young that time and became too much into it. I really love the character of Matilda and of course the child actress. She portrayed really superb as well as the character of the Headmistress- chocolates really made her too frenzied! It has taught the basic necessity that everybody should have: to be loved and to have a loving family. All she ever wanted was to be loved and be cared of by the family who adopted her. She was different… she was an extraordinary child that can move things instantly without being attached to it. She had telekinesis which I wish I had. Smiles. I noticed that she developed it as soon as she is being rebuked by people around him. Her power is being triggered by it and she has developed it by practicing. Being different from her family, she became independent through learning in her own at a very young age. At the end, she had a family in the character of her loving teacher. Ms. Honey was the only one that made her feel loved; the teacher also have seen herself in Matilda so she felt really closed to the child. The movie has taught me that we can not feel complete if we do not have a person that will truly love us. It is more important to be loved than not to have loved at all. Love really makes a difference! Thank God for this day! Smiles.
